Reigning All-News4JAX player of the year Sophia Kardatzke whiffed 14 in six innings and scattered just four hits for the Christians.

UC (18-7) will face Evangelical Christian (27-2) in a rematch of last year’s championship game on Wednesday at 4 p.m. UC won that showdown 3-2 last season.
UC’s offense struggled with just five hits, two from Kylie Shannon. But it didn’t matter because the John Carroll Catholic imploded on defense. It committed five errors and all of Makayla Ortiz’s runs were unearned.
With Kardatzke in the circle, it probably wouldn’t have mattered anyway. She’s gotten better and better in the postseason by the year and helped lead UC to its first fast-pitch state championship last year.
