JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jaguars added a depth piece at receiver on Thursday, agreeing to a deal with free agent Denzel Mims.
Mims was a second-round pick of the Jets in 2020 but has been a bit of a drifter since then. Mims had 676 yards receiving on 42 catches across three seasons with the Jets. Mims (6-3, 207) is a big bodied receiver who brings some physical traits to the team.

Mims asked for a trade from New York, and he was dealt to the Lions before the 2023 season and didn’t make it out of camp before being cut. Mims was signed by the Steelers after that and spent all of last year on the practice squad. He hasn’t played in a regular season game since 2022.
The Jaguars are set at the top three receiving spots, with Christian Kirk, Gabe Davis and Brian Thomas Jr. Second-year player Parker Washington looked sharp in minicamp and should find himself in the mix at receiver, and the team added Devin Duvernay in free agency. But Jacksonville lost bodies at wideout in David White Jr., a Westside High School alum, who tore his ACL, and saw Wayne Ruby go down with an injury. Ruby was later waived.
The team released receiver Kyric McGowan after signing Mims.
