JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – On the eve of training camp, the Jaguars locked in another core young player with a contract extension to cornerback Tyson Campbell.

Campbell is entering the fourth and final season of his rookie deal and was set to hit free agency in 2025. According to the NFL Network, Campbell’s deal is a four-year, $76.5 million extension. That number includes $53.4 million in guarantees.

Getting Campbell signed to an extension means Jacksonville has now locked in three big pieces of its team. The Jaguars signed Trevor Lawrence to the richest contract in franchise history last month with a five-year, $275 million deal. Edge Josh Hines-Allen cashed in before that with a five-year, $141.25 million deal.

“I’m blessed to stay in Jacksonville and thankful God is allowing me to continue building something special with my brothers on the field and in the community,” Campbell said. “I want to thank the Jaguars for making my NFL dreams come true three years ago and for still believing in me today.”

Campbell struggled with injuries last year but has been a very good player in his time with the Jaguars. He was a second-round pick in 2021, the same class as Lawrence, Travis Etienne and safety Andre Cisco. He has 204 career tackles and six interceptions.

“Tyson is a young, talented player who is an integral part of our defense and core member of our locker room,” general manager Trent Baalke said in a statement. “He is a consummate professional on and off the field and we are confident that his best lies ahead.  We have consistently messaged the importance of extending our core players and this is another step forward in honoring that commitment.”
