JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – One of the top recruits in the country is headed to the University of Texas.
Mandarin receiver Jaime Ffrench ended months of speculation on his college future when he verbally committed to Texas during a pep rally at the school on Friday morning. The Mustangs face rival Atlantic Coast on Friday at 6:30 p.m. in their annual battle for the Principal’s Cup.

Ffrench (6-1, 185 pounds) is a five-star prospect by Rivals, the On3 Industry ranking and 247 Sports. He is rated a four-star by ESPN. Ffrench is a consensus top 10 receiver nationally, including rated as the No. 2 wideout in the country by ESPN and Rivals.
Ffrench joins a loaded Texas Class of 2025 that includes five-star receiver Kaliq Lockett out of Sachse, Texas and five-star safety Jonah Williams out of Galveston, Texas. And, it’s an anomaly for a local player to head to Texas. Ffrench is the first area player in more than a quarter century to head to the Longhorns.
Ffrench has 2,150 receiving yards in his career and 21 touchdowns. He’s been an All-News4JAX selection the last two seasons, including career-bests in receptions (62), yards (1,247) and touchdowns (14) as a junior as Mandarin reached the Class 4M state championship game. Ffrench is the No. 2-ranked player in the News4JAX Super 16 recruit list, trailing only Raines offensive lineman and five-star player Solomon Thomas.
Ffrench’s final four schools were LSU, Miami, Tennessee and Texas. He’d initially been committed to Alabama but backed out of that after Nick Saban retired last January.
