JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The News4JAX Varsity 4 Super 6 high school volleyball rankings will be published each Wednesday during the regular season. Records are through Sept. 10 games.

Before we dive into the Super 6, a milestone alert for a Trinity Christian team that has typically been apart of the Super 6, and may be again this season as things get into the homestretch. Attacker Mari King, a three-time All-News4JAX selection, surpassed a career milestone this week when she surpassed 2,000 career kills during a 3-2 win over Oakleaf on Monday. King is a Marquette commit, has at least dozen matches left in the regular season to add to her area-best career numbers and help get the Conquerors back on track after a slow start. King had 492 kills last year, a career-high, as Trinity reached the Class 2A state semifinals.

King is well on her way to breaking the state record for career kills, now held by Breanah Rives from Seacrest Country Day. Rives is credited with 2,130 career kills from 2017-22.

Leland (Michigan) hitter Alisha Glass is recognized as the national high school career kill’s leader by the National Federation of High School Association’s record book. Glass had 3,584 kills from 2003-06.

Rank, school, record, classification

1. (1) Middleburg (10-3, Class 5A)

Notable win: Bob Jones (Ala.), Jackson Academy (Miss.), Ponte Vedra, Providence, Timber Creek.

Glance: Middleburg went 2-1 since our last Super 6, with a 3-2 thriller over No. 3 Ponte Vedra and a loss to powerful Chiles, a Class 5A state semifinalist a year ago. County rival Fleming Island is up next on Thursday. The Broncos have been No. 1 all season and I don’t see any team budging them before possibly next month. They’ve got Bishop Kenny and Beachside on Oct. 1 and 2, respectively. Brooke Forkum (165 kills) and Camden Rahn (136 kills) are contenders for the area’s top player.

2. (2) Bishop Kenny (8-2, Class 4A)

Notable wins: Bartram Trail, Creekside, Fleming Island, Gainesville, Wesley Chapel, Windermere.

Glance: The Crusaders beat Fleming Island 3-2 in their lone game since our last Super 6. Rival Bolles (Thursday) and powerful Chiles (Saturday) are up next for Kenny. Olivia Ryno (99 kills) and Sofia Muino (84 kills) are powering the Crusaders.

3. (3) Ponte Vedra (4-1, Class 5A)

Notable wins: Beachside, Harvest, Providence.

Glance: A 1-1 mark since our last Super 6, a sweep of Spruce Creek and a 3-2 loss to No. 1 Middleburg. There’s a tough stretch ahead, with a powerful Trinity squad on Thursday, Chiles on Saturday and No. 4 Beachside on Tuesday. Leah Grall (51 kills), Ryan Murphy (35 kills), Lily Keely (33 kills) and Railey Player (32 kills) lead a balanced attack. Avery Webb is at 99 digs to lead the defense.
