JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – One week into the season, the Jaguars are already having to shake up their starting lineup.
The team placed cornerback Tyson Campbell on injured reserve Thursday morning, meaning that the fourth-year star will miss at least the next four games while battling a hamstring injury. Jacksonville elevated corner Tre Flowers from the practice squad and signed safety Andre Chachere to fill Flowers’ spot.

The bigger news is the loss of Campbell for the immediate future. He left the regular season opener in the second half against the Dolphins after aggravating his hamstring. Miami beat Jacksonville 20-17.
“I hate it for him, first. He was playing at an elite level, really high. Can’t wait to get him back, and we will,” said defensive coordinator Ryan Nielsen. “He’ll come back; he’ll be fine. It’s just a next-man-up mentality. It’s part of the game.”
Head coach Doug Pederson said earlier this week that Campbell could miss some time with the injury. The move to IR means that Campbell will have to miss four weeks at a minimum.
Campbell’s injury takes the team’s top corner out of the secondary and calls into question his availability for the remainder of the season. Campbell struggled in 2023 with hamstring and quad injuries and missed six games.
It’s a disappointing development for Campbell, who signed a four-year, $76.5 million extension in the offseason. It included $53.4 million in guarantees, according to the NFL Network.
