But there are plans in place in case people get stuck in the muddy grass lots.

Wayne Verschuere is getting his bar prepared for the Jags first home game of the season and the thousands of fans that will attend.

“We’re really excited actually,” he said.

Verschuere is the owner of Tailgate Pro Entertainment, a mobile event entertainment company. He will be hosting parties all season long.

“We’re really excited to be able to take this over and kind of revamp it and bring it back to life a lot of cool fun things going on here,” Verschuere said.

Money from part of the tailgate will go toward an organization that helps children with autism.

Christan Hancock, Public Information Officer for Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, said his men and women are prepared for whatever the first home game will bring.

“As it relates to traffic, so the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office we staff these games with numerous officers on the outside to assist with traffic direction and control. There’s essentially officers at every parking lot to help citizens get into where they need to go,” Hancock said.

More rain is expected to come down between Friday night and Sunday afternoon. There’s a 50% chance of rain and thunderstorms on Sunday and parking lots that already have puddles could be worse. So what does that mean for people who tailgate and park in grass lots?

“Most of the city lots are paved. There are a few that are grass lots, but yes we’ll have people there if individuals need help. We have wreckers that can assist with that. A lot of the private lots are dirt, those folks should be able to help them out if there’s issues,” Hancock said.

News4JAX reached out to the Jaguars asking them about their lots with puddles and if people will still be able to park there, but the team did not immediately respond.

Verschuere said though it might rain he doesn’t think it’ll stop any of the fun on Sunday.

Hancock said when people are coming to the game this weekend it’s important to listen to the officers who are directing traffic on the roads.
