JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Week 4 of the high school football season is in the books and we’ve got all the scores and TV highlights in one place to catch you up on all the Friday night action.
The area’s No. 1 team went down in the Varsity 4 Game of the Week with host and fourth-ranked Bradford using a strong defense to top Mandarin, 18-13 on Friday night. The Mustangs (3-1), lost star receiver Jaime Ffrench to an injury just before halftime and saw Bradford come back in the final minutes to earn the win.
Streaks end, continue
Westside pulled the sweetest win of Week 4, topping Ribault 11-8 to end a 20-game losing streak that dated back to the 2022 season. It was the first head coaching win for Westside’s Randy Randall and a huge boost of momentum for a team that has been close but not close enough. Westside’s victory leaves Sandalwood trying to snap the area’s longest skid. The Saints, who lost 42-0 to Atlantic Coast, are winless in their last 14 games and are still searching for their first points of the season.
No. 10 Beachside’s 11-game winning streak came to an end with a 17-14 loss to No. 8 Ponte Vedra. The Barracudas (2-1) hadn’t lost since Week 1 in 2023 to rival Tocoi Creek.
Bartram Trail had won 16 of 17 meetings with rival Creekside in the Battle of Longleaf Pine Parkway, but couldn’t stretch that another season as the host Knights won a 49-42 shootout. The Knights (1-3) had just one win in the series, a 37-24 win in 2014. Rutgers commit Sean Ashenfelder had four rushing touchdowns and threw for another to lead Creekside.
No. 5 Bolles trailed by 15 in the second half but surged back to beat rival Bishop Kenny 35-28. The Crusaders took a 28-13 lead over the Bulldogs on a Derek Heideman touchdown pass to JP Donovan late in the third quarter before the Bulldogs roared back for the win. Emmett Grzebin scored the winning touchdown for Bolles.
