JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jaguars secondary is nearing the return to full strength.

The team announced Wednesday that they have placed cornerback Tyson Campbell on the Reserve/Injured; Designated for Return List, which means his 21-day practice window has opened. He will need to be elevated to the active roster within 21 days, or Campbell will revert back to Injured Reserve and be out for the remainder of the season. That is unlikely though. Head coach Doug Pederson anticipates Campbell will be back next week for the second game in London against the New England Patriots.

“We’re excited to be in a position to open his window,” Pederson said. “It allows him to work himself back into practice.”

Campbell was placed on IR on Sept. 12 with a left hamstring injury. He was injured in the season opening 20-17 loss at the Miami Dolphins. It was mandatory for Campbell to sit out four weeks because he was on IR. This is not an injury Campbell is not used to. Last season he missed six games with a right hamstring injury.

Campbell is not the only player in the secondary that is returning from injury. Safety Darnell Savage returned Sunday in the Jaguars 37-34 win over the Colts at home. Savage was out for three games with a quadricep injury.
