Super 6 girls basketball rankings
Rank, previous, school, record, classification
1. (1) Providence (7-1, Class 2A)
Quality wins: Bartram Trail, Bolles, Oakleaf, Ridgeview, Somerset Academy-Canyons, Trinity Catholic.
Notable: The Stallions hammered a quality Bartram Trail (71-41) in their lone game since our last Super 6. They’re headed to the competitive Kreul Classic Friday and Saturday with games against SLAM (5-2) and Galloway (5-3), a team from Atlanta, on the menu. That’s going to be a tough double for Providence. This team has the potential to be elite. Janie Boyd (13.3 ppg), Kennedy Loux (12.9 ppg), Kasey Davey (12 ppg), Janai Jordan (9.3 ppg) and Julianna Baskin (10.2 rpg, 9.3 ppg) may be the best starting five in the area.
2. (2) Bolles (7-3, Class 3A)
Quality wins: Gainesville, Haines City, Ribault, Seffner Christian, Somerset Prep, Tocoi Creek
Notable: The Bulldogs are rolling. They had two major wins since our last Super 6, clobbering quality teams in Seffner Christian (72-21) and Haines City (74-43). They’re in tournament action with unbeaten Florida Deaf (8-0) up first on Friday. Abby Knauff (15.7 ppg), Evie Freeman (13.8 ppg), Terrell McCoy (13.8 ppg, 7.9 rpg) and Presley Norman (11.4 ppg) are excellent players.
3. (3) Bishop Kenny (6-2, Class 4A)
Quality wins: Godby, Paxon, Tocoi Creek, Trinity Catholic.
Notable: The Crusaders went 2-0 since our last Super 6. They walloped Oakleaf (60-17) and pulled away from Tocoi Creek (43-33). Up next is a 7-1 Camden County on Thursday and Columbia on Friday. Kathleen Crawley (15.6 ppg, 5.3 rpg) leads the Crusaders in scoring. Abby Baker (7 ppg, 6.3 rpg) tops the team in boards.
4. (NR) San Jose Prep (5-3, Class 2A)
Quality wins: Lakewood, Lake Region, NFEI, Ribault.
Notable: The Storm rejoin the rankings after winning three straight, including a 55-45 win over a red-hot Ribault on Monday night. San Jose Prep has a game against the Athens Drive on Wednesday night before the Christmas break.
5. (NR) Jackson (7-1, Class 3A)
Quality wins: Orange Park, Sandalwood, Space Coast.
Notable: The Tigers make their debut after a six-game winning streak. They’ve got a solid Fletcher up next on Tuesday night before a couple tournament games this weekend against Johnson and Jenkins, programs out of Savannah.
6. (4) Creekside (8-2, Class 7A)
Quality wins: Fletcher, Menendez, St. Augustine, Tocoi Creek
Notable: Tough call to leave the Knights in this week after a 48-37 loss to Fleming Island but I gave them the edge over Tocoi Creek, Paxon and Ribault. They’re back in action this week against Nease and NFEI. Brie McCoy (11.8 ppg, 10.6 rpg), Cami Waters (10.6 ppg) and Presley Brinkley (10 ppg) lead the Knights.
