FOLKSTON, Ga. – Christmas is one week away, and while Santa is busy preparing gifts, Pro Football Hall of Famer Champ Bailey, his family, and Divas By Chance are lending a hand to the North Pole by hosting the ‘Toys for Joy’ Christmas party and toy giveaway.
“This is home and this is easy to do for me because they deserve it,” Bailey said. “I think in this part of the country people forget what’s needed here, but since I’ve left here in 1996 to go to the University of Georgia, I never stopped coming back. I just try to find better ways to give back here.”
The event was a festive occasion for 125 children, ranging from 3 to 12 years old, who had the opportunity to select their favorite Christmas presents. In addition to the gifts, the children enjoyed games, arts and crafts, a magic show, and face painting.
“This is home and we have a responsibility to help take care of home,” Elaine Bailey said. “This is what we do. We give what we can to the children especially as well as the parents.”
This marks the second year that the Champ Bailey Family Foundation has hosted this event in Bailey’s hometown of Folkston, Ga., continuing their commitment to bringing joy and support to the community.
