Super 6 girls basketball: Bolles moves up to No. 1, Potter’s House joins rankings

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The News4JAX Super 6 girls high school basketball rankings will be published each Tuesday — except during the weeks of Thanksgiving and Christmas — through the regular season. Records are through Dec. 30.

1. (2) Bolles (10-3, Class 3A)

Quality wins: Florida Deaf, Gainesville, Haines City, Ribault (twice), Seffner Christian, Somerset Prep, Tocoi Creek

Notable: The Bulldogs have cruised through the holiday stretch, boosting their winning streak to nine games, including quality Ws over Seffner Christian (72-21), previously unbeaten Florida Deaf (72-42), Haines City (77-43) and Ribault (68-50). They’re back in action this week at the SUTS Classic in Fort Lauderdale and open up with 10-3 Grandview Prep. Abby Knauff (14.9 ppg), Evie Freeman (14.1 ppg), Terrell McCoy (13.2 ppg) and Presley Norman (12.2 ppg) are powering the Bulldogs.

2. (3) Bishop Kenny (11-2, Class 4A)

Quality wins: Camden County, Godby, Keswick Christian, Paxon, St. Petersburg, Tocoi Creek, Trinity Catholic.

Notable: The Crusaders have won eight straight games, including quality Ws over Camden County (51-37), Tocoi Creek (53-43), St. Petersburg (73-44) and Keswick Christian (50-17) during the holiday stretch. They’re back in action later this week in tournament play, facing Georgia teams Marietta and Sparkman. Kathleen Crawley (15.4 ppg leads the Crusaders in scoring.

3 (1) Providence (8-5, Class 2A)

Quality wins: Bartram Trail, Bolles, Oakleaf, Ridgeview, SLAM Academy, Somerset Academy-Canyons, Trinity Catholic.

Notable: A tough holiday stretch for the Stallions, who have beaten quality teams in Bartram Trail (71-41) and SLAM (55-54) but dropped all four games at the Innisfree Hotels Tournament in Pensacola. Providence player 14-1 Northview (Kodak, Tenn.) tough in a 51-47 loss and took a 51-50 defeat to Grainger (Rutledge, Tenn.). They’re off until Jan. 7 at Beachside.

4. (4) San Jose Prep (9-6, Class 2A)

Quality wins: Athens Drive, Lakewood, Lake Region, NFEI, Ribault, Tampa Catholic.

Notable: The Storm dropped three games over the holiday break, but I can’t ding them for playing tough. Their losses were to Grayson, Ga., Milton, Ga. and Providence Christian, Tenn., teams who are a combined 29-9. They’re back in action Jan. 7 against Orange Park.

5. (NR) Potter’s House (9-3, independent)

Quality wins: Haines City, Lake Region, St. Thomas Aquinas

Notable: The Lions, led by former Ribault and JU star Sherranda Reddick, have been on a roll this year. They’re coming off a 1-2 showing at the 16th Annual National Title IX Classic in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. They lost to Finest Basketball Academy (68-57) and Winston Salem Christian Academy (47-34) and topped TPLS Christian (54-52) on the final day. Sara Dagba (13.6 ppg) and Alanna Tatum (11.4 ppg) are leading the Lions.

6. (5) Jackson (10-4, Class 3A)

Quality wins: Fletcher, Florida High, Jenkins, Orange Park, Sandalwood, Space Coast.

Notable: The Tigers went 3-3 since our last Super 6, quality Ws over Fletcher (45-36), Jenkins (44-58) and Florida High (50-48). The losses were respectable and to very good teams (Columbia, Ga., Leesburg and Windermere Prep).
