JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jaguars are in the market for a new head coach in 2025.
The team imploded this season, and owner Shad Khan opted to move on from head coach Doug Pederson on Monday morning following a 4-13 finish. Whoever the franchise selects will become the eighth head coach in team history.

Joe Brady, Bills offensive coordinator
He had a little bit of buzz when he was LSU’s passing game coordinator in 2019 during Joe Burrow’s 15-0 season. He went to Carolina and vanished but has done very well in his role with the Bills after being named the permanent offensive coordinator last January.
Liam Coen, Buccaneers offensive coordinator
He made his return to the NFL this year and has not missed a beat. Coen helped turn Baker Mayfield from a reclamation project into a bonafide star. The 38-year-old coach is viewed as a rising offensive mind in the NFL.
Brian Flores, Vikings defensive coordinator
He spent the bulk of his coaching career as an assistant under Belichick in New England before landing his first head coaching job with the Dolphins (2019-2021). Flores has done very good work in Minnesota. The one hangup in hiring Flores is that he has sued the NFL and the Dolphins alleging racial discrimination was the reason for his firing. Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa called Flores a “terrible person” earlier this season.
Aaron Glenn, Lions defensive coordinator
A well-liked former NFL player who actually played one season with the Jaguars (2007). He’s been the DC in Detroit since 2021 and is another integral part of the turnaround in the Motor City.
Ben Johnson, Lions offensive coordinator
Johnson has been the hot name each of the last two years in the coaching circle. He opted out of going for a head coaching job last year, instead going back to Detroit to try and help it reach the Super Bowl. If you’ve followed Jaguars social media this season, Johnson is the name fans seem to want here. Would he leave an ideal situation in Detroit for a quasi-rebuild here? If Jacksonville hired Johnson, would he bring along ex-Jaguars star Mark Brunell, the current quarterbacks coach in Detroit?
Kliff Kingsbury, Commanders offensive coordinator
He spent four years as the head coach of the Cardinals and oversaw the development of a No. 1 pick in Kyler Murray. He had one playoff appearance in those seasons and finished 28-37-1. Kingsbury coached Heisman winners Johnny Manziel (OC in 2012 at Texas A&M) and Caleb Williams (head coach at USC in 2023)
Matt Nagy, Chiefs offensive coordinator
He has head coaching experience (34-31 in four seasons with the Bears) and has three seasons as Kansas City’s offensive coordinator under Andy Reid (2017, 2023-24). Would he consider leaving the safe haven of the Chiefs and Reid for the Jaguars?
Mike Vrabel, Browns consultant
The former NFL linebacker spent six years as the head coach of the Titans and helped knock the Jaguars out of the playoffs in a Week 18 game last year. Vrabel went 54-45 in his time with Tennessee. He fits the mold of a player’s coach and a culture builder, something that the Jaguars need.
Bobby Slowik, Texans offensive coordinator
His star has fallen a little bit with how Houston has struggled with consistency, but he’s done very good things in two seasons, including the development of quarterback CJ Stroud. Stroud became the best QB in the AFC South as a rookie, something the Jaguars are still waiting on from Trevor Lawrence. Slowik also comes from the Kyle/Mike Shanahan coaching tree. He was a defensive assistant for Mike in Washington and then worked for Kyle in San Francisco.
