Varsity 4 Super 6 boys basketball: Tocoi Creek moves up, Jackson solidifies No. 1 ranking

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The News4JAX Varsity 4 Super 6 boys high school basketball rankings will be published each Wednesday — except during the weeks of Thanksgiving and Christmas — through the regular season. Records are through Jan. 7

Rank, previous, school, record, classification

1. (1) Jackson (14-1, Class 3A)

Quality wins: Bolles, Creekside, Fleming Island, Impact Christian, Gainesville, Lake Highland Prep, Ribault, Tocoi Creek, University Christian, Williston.

Notable: The Tigers beat reigning Class 1A state champ Williston, 65-44 since our last Super 6. That’s another high quality W for Jackson. The Tigers have San Jose Prep, Rickards and Savannah up next to round out the week. Jahari Simmons (15.4 ppg) and David Wilson (12.9 ppg) are leading the Tigers.

2. (3) Tocoi Creek (14-1, Class 6A)

Quality wins: Beachside, Bishop Kenny, Colonial, Fleming Island, NSU University, Raines, Riverside.

Notable: The Toros are rolling. They stretched their winning streak to seven games since our last update. They won three games since last week’s Super 6, including a high quality 57-52 win over Orlando Colonial. They’ve got Menendez and Bartram Trail to round out the week.

3. (2) Impact Christian (9-4, Class 1A)

Quality wins: Creekside, Episcopal, Oviedo, Ponte Vedra, Mt. Bethel Christian, Potter’s House, San Jose Prep, Santa Fe Catholic.

Notable: Just one game since our last Super 6, a 78-15 blowout of Global Outreach Charter. Riverside on Thursday and Nease on Saturday are next for the Lions. Ronald Clark (15.6 ppg), Jeremiah Jones (13.3 ppg) and Chris Jackson (8.8 ppg) are leading the Lions.

4. (NR) Ribault (10-4, Class 4A)

Quality wins: Creekside, First Coast, Fletcher, Gainesville, Lake Howell, Riverside.

Notable: The Trojans return to the Super 6, with a very high quality win over a 13-1 Lake Howell (58-55) since our last Super 6. They’ve got Bishop Snyder up this week. Jamian Jackson (16.1 ppg), Kaden Toure (15.4 ppg) and Kaleb McDuffie (10.5 ppg) lead the Trojans.

5. (T6) Fleming Island (11-3, Class 5A)

Quality wins: Bradford, Creekside, Davenport, Jackson, Orange Park, Riverside.

Notable: The Golden Eagles beat Sandalwood (67-48) and Vanguard (68-52) since our last Super 6. They close out the week with two tough opponents, hosting Creekside on Thursday and Oakleaf on Friday. Sophomore wing Carson Crawford (18.8 ppg, 9.9 rpg) remains in the conversation as the area’s top player.

6. (T6) Oakleaf (11-3, Class 6A)

Quality wins: Columbia (twice), McKeel Academy, NFEI, Orange Park, St. Augustine, Trenton, Vero Beach.

Notable: The Knights have won three straight heading into a Friday showdown at No. 5 Fleming Island. They handled Orange Park (65-52) in their lone game since our last Super 6.

Dropped out
