Rank, previous, school, record, classification
1. (1) Creekside (11-0-1, Class 7A)
Quality wins: Bartram Trail, Beachside, Edgewood, Nease, Oakleaf, Stanton.
Notable: A quality 2-0 win over Nease since our last Super 6 for the Knights. They’ve got Atlantic Coast up on Jan. 14 next. A positive thing for the area this year is that three of the area’s top teams, No. 1 Creekside, No. 2 Ponte Vedra and No. 3 Bartram Trail are all in separate classifications. The Knights and Bears have won the last five biggest classification state championships. Bartram dropped down a class this year, which gives the area another title contender. Previously, the Bears and Knights had to knock each other out in the postseason. Creekside’s defense and keeper Hailey Smith have allowed just three goals all season.
2. (2) Ponte Vedra (10-1-2, Class 5A)
Quality wins: Bishop Kenny, Bishop Moore, Chiles, Fleming Island, Navarre, Niceville, Stanton, St. Johns Country Day, Tocoi Creek.
Notable: The Sharks beat South Walton and Navarre by matching 3-0s since our last Super 6. The Sharks are off until a collision with unbeaten and No. 3-nationally ranked Montverde Academy on Jan. 14. Lily Morse and Izzy Whitaker have scored a combined 19 goals.
3. (3) Bartram Trail (9-1-4, Class 6A)
Quality wins: Beachside, Chiles, Episcopal, Fletcher, P.K. Yonge, St. Johns CD.
Notable: The Bears went 1-0-2 since our last Super 6. They tied Bishop Moore and Navarre by 1-1 scores, and then clobbered South Walton 7-0. They visit Fleming Island on Jan. 14 next. Brooke Gosse and Ali Fletcher are up to a combined 20 goals for the Bears.
4. (4) St. Johns Country Day (10-3-1, Class 1A)
Quality wins: Atlantic Coast, Fletcher, Lakeland Christian, Lakewood Ranch, Niceville, Oakleaf, P.K. Yonge, Stanton.
Notable: The Spartans haven’t played since Dec. 20 and return to action Thursday night against a quality Clay team. Calli Berrang, Reygan Rogero and Cece Nowicki have combined for 13 goals.
5. (5) Fletcher (12-2-1, Class 6A)
Quality wins: Atlantic Coast, Bolles, Flagler Palm Coast, Oakleaf, Sandalwood, Stanton.
Notable: The Senators rolled over First Coast and Wolfson in the Gateway Conference tournament and moved in to Friday’s conference title game against Stanton. Emma McMurray and Alexandria Mai are leading the Senators.
6. (6) Stanton (12-5, Class 4A)
Quality wins: Atlantic Coast (twice), Clay, Fernandina Beach, Fleming Island, Nease, Wolfson.
Notable: The Blue Devils are in the Gateway Conference championship game against No. 5 Fletcher. Of their five losses, four are to teams ranked ahead of them in the Super 6. Kate Huntington, Caroline Joiner, Peyton Burris and Kimiko O’Connor have combined for 29 goals for Stanton.
