JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The boys high school basketball playoff field is set as the drive to the state semifinals in Lakeland begins on Feb. 12.
Eight local teams earned No. 1 seeds in their region — Creekside, Tocoi Creek, Fleming Island, Ribault, Jackson, University Christian, Impact Christian and Hilliard.

Could this be the season that the area’s lengthy title drought ends? Not since Bolles in 2016 has a team from the metro Jacksonville area brought home a state championship. Bradford was the last team from the News4JAX coverage region that brought home a title (2022).
The area has a strong chance to have a state semifinalist come out of Region 1-5A, 1-4A, 1-3A, 1-1A and 3-1R as half the bracket in those regions includes local teams.
Ribault’s upset loss to Raines in the district championship game didn’t hurt the Trojans as they still claimed the No. 1 seed in 1-4A.
Only two all-local matchups happen in the opening round, Bishop Snyder at Providence in 1-2A and NFEI at St. Johns Country Day in 1-1A.
