JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Six area girls basketball teams earned top seeds in their region in the playoff brackets that were announced Sunday afternoon.
Tocoi Creek, Bishop Kenny, Bolles, Providence, North Florida Educational and Hilliard will open play on Thursday as No. 1 seeds in region play.

Kenny (23-4) has been the area’s most consistent team in recent years, reaching the state semifinals in Lakeland six straight seasons. They’ve played for four championships in that span (2019-20 and 2023-24).
Providence (20-6), the top seed in Region 1-2A, is looking for its third consecutive trip to Lakeland, is the favorite in its region.
NFEI (16-12) was edged in the final seconds of last year’s regional final but the Eagles should be considered a sizable favorite in Region 1-1A this season.
In Region 1-3A, Bolles has been arguably the area’s best team this season under head coach Kelly Stevenson. To reach their first state semifinal, the Bulldogs (21-5) will likely have to get past No. 2 seed Rutherford, a team that has beaten Bolles three consecutive seasons in the playoffs.
