JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The girls basketball state semifinals begin this week in Lakeland. Here’s a look at the Holmes County-Hilliard game in the Rural classification.

Holmes County (25-2) vs. Hilliard (18-8)

When: Wednesday, 5 p.m.

Watch it: Game can be streamed on the NFHS Network. Cost applies for a monthly pass.

Winner gets: Wildwood-Blountstown winner in state championship game on Friday at 5 p.m.

Road here: Holmes County beat Graceville, 64-30; d. Jay, 56-50; Hilliard d. Madison County, 65-39; d. Fort White, 67-64.

Notable: Alyssa Hallman (17.1 ppg, 9.1 rebounds) and Molly Dean (11.4 ppg) lead Hilliard. … Hilliard was the state runner-up in 1988 for its lone championship experience. The Red Flashes have been to the semifinals multiple times: in 1991 (loss to Westminster Academy, 82-57), 1992 (62-49 loss to Bradenton Christian), 1995 (47-44 loss to First Academy), 2012 (lost to Newberry, 49-45), 2013 (lost to Chipley, 55-50) and 2015 before losing to Wildwood (45-30).
