After coming close in the state soccer semifinals before, St. Joseph finally cleared the hurdle.

The Flashes won their first final four game in program history on Wednesday night, charging past Canterbury 3-0 in in the Class 1A semifinals at Spec Martin Stadium. The win puts St. Joseph (20-7) in its first championship game on Saturday when it faces Pine (17-1) at 10 a.m.

Kyle Jackson scored twice and Alex Altman had the other score and an assist for St. Joseph.

The Flashes are the second boys team this season to reach a final. Mandarin played for the Class 6A crown last Saturday but lost 1-0 to Mitchell.
