1. (2) Baker County (3-0-1, Class 4A)
Quality win: Columbia
Notable: The Wildcats beat Columbia (9-7), Keystone Heights (5-4) and Ridgeview (9-1) since our last Super 6. The tie is an unfinished game against Yulee. The round out the week at Hilliard on Friday. Baleigh Sheilds (.571) is leading the Wildcats at the plate.
2. (4) Oakleaf (2-0, Class 6A)
Quality win: West Nassau.
Notable: The Knights edged West Nassau (5-4) since our last Super 6. They’re in action at the Montverde tournament on Friday and Saturday before returning home to face Bartram Trail on March 4. Only two games, but Jaydyn Bell and Charlotte Maddox are hitting .714 for Oakleaf.
3. (5) Episcopal (3-0, Class 2A)
Quality wins: Bishop Kenny, Bishop Snyder.
Notable: Wins over Providence (16-12) and Bishop Kenny (7-4) since our last Super 6. Amelia Oreair (.625, 2 HR) and Emily Davidson (.500) are swinging the big bats early for the Eagles. They’re headed to the Montverde tournament this week and will face No. 2 Oakleaf down there.
4. (3) Middleburg (2-2, Class 5A)
Quality wins: Baldwin, Trinity Catholic.
Notable: A blast by Emma Ward helped deliver the Broncos a 10-7 walk-off win over previous No. 1 Baldwin. Kerra Clarida and Lily Bennett also went yard in that game. They lost to Trenton (5-1) and Branford (6-4), teams who are a combined 5-1. Not a bad week for the Broncos.
5. (1) Baldwin (3-2, Class 2A)
Quality wins: Hilliard, Trinity Catholic.
Notable: The Indians went 1-2 since our last Super 6, a walk-off loss to Middleburg (10-7) and a 6-3 loss to Columbia. I knew there would be some growing pains for Baldwin this season. They’ve endured a slew of graduation losses so the early part of the season is going to be filled with a few of those weeks. Kendall North (.786) and Jazmine Ramos-Merced (.467) are leading the way for Baldwin.
6. (6) Creekside (2-0, Class 7A)
Quality win: Mandarin.
Notable: The Knights beat Sandalwood (16-3) and Mandarin (16-13 since our last Super 6. The schedule won’t pick up too much until the first week of March. Eight Creekside players are hitting .500 or better in limited action.
