Varsity 4 Super 6 girls lacrosse: Episcopal solidifies No. 1 ranking as spring break approaches

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Varsity 4 All-News4JAX girls lacrosse Super 6 rankings will be published each Monday in the regular season. Records are through March 9 games. This will be the final Super 6 until March 24 following a week off for spring break.

Rank, school, record, classification

1. (1) Episcopal (8-1, Class 1A)

Quality wins: Bartram Trail, Benjamin, Harrison (Ga.), Jensen Beach, Ponte Vedra, St. Augustine, Tocoi Creek.

Notable: The Eagles had an excellent week, going 2-1 against the trio of Benjamin (17-7), Jensen Beach (20-8) and Vero Beach (12-10 loss). Vero is a beast and a perennial title contender. Episcopal is off for spring break until March 21.

2. (2) Bartram Trail (6-3, Class 2A)

Quality win: Bishop Moore, Nease, Viera.

Notable: The Bears went 1-1 since our last Super 6, a 15-2 rout of Nease and a 15-5 loss to unbeaten Delray Beach American Heritage. They’ve got Tocoi Creek on Thursday.

3. (3) Ponte Vedra (4-3, Class 2A)

Quality wins: Hagerty, Harrison (Ga.), St. Thomas Aquinas

Notable: The Sharks stacked wins over Hagerty (15-8) and St. Augustine (17-5) since our last Super 6. Tough game on Monday against unbeaten Oak Hall is up next followed by Creekside (Thursday) before a two-week break.

4. (4) Bolles (7-1, Class 1A)

Quality win: Gulf Breeze, Nease, South Walton, Tocoi Creek.

Notable: Just one game since our last Super 6, an 11-6 win over a quality Tocoi Creek. Bolles is off for spring break and returns March 21 at No. 1 Episcopal.

5. (5) Tocoi Creek (5-4, Class 2A)

Quality wins: Menendez, West Orange.

Notable: The Toros went 1-2 since our last Super 6, losing to Bolles (11-6) and unbeaten Cherokee, Ga. (17-3), and thumping Beachside (16-4). Tocoi Creek has Nease and Bartram Trail up this week before a week and a half off for spring break.

6. (6) Nease (3-5, Class 2A)

Quality win: Fletcher.

Notable: The Panthers lost to Bartram Trail (15-2) since our last Super 6. I kept them in ahead of Fletcher due to their 10-7 win over the Senators.
