Rank, Previous, School, Record, Classification
1. (1) Trinity Christian (9-1, Class 2A)
Quality wins: Beachside, Bishop Snyder, Columbia, Creekside, Lincoln, Marist (Ga.), North Marion, University Christian.
Notable: The Conquerors are rolling. Since our last Super 6, Trinity beat Bishop Snyder (5-4), Lincoln (3-1) and Marist (6-4), three high quality Ws. Ethan Wheeler (.417), Brady Harris (.367) and Chris Reali (.346) lead the area’s top team into spring break. are leading a stacked Trinity lineup.
2. (2) Providence (10-3, Class 2A)
Quality wins: Bishop Snyder, Bolles, Clay, John Carroll Catholic, Ponte Vedra, University Christian.
Notable: The Stallions surged to No. 2 last week but lost once since our last Super 6, a 3-2 game to an 11-0 Bishop Verot. They added wins over Wolfson and Middleburg. Grant Sheppard (.361), Luke Manderson (.333) and Brody Kraft (.333) lead the offense. Landis Pickett, Ryan Wells and Preston Matricardi lead a very good staff.
3. (3) Bishop Snyder (8-3 Class 2A)
Quality wins: Baldwin, Columbia, Ponte Vedra, Sandalwood, Tocoi Creek.
Notable: The Cardinals are slumping a little bit, losing back-to-back games, albeit, to elite competition. Snyder lost 5-4 to No. 1 Trinity and then 8-0 to state power and 13-1 Stoneman Douglas. Tripp Hannah is hitting .447 and Josh Murray follows at .316. I can’t see penalizing a team too much for losses like that.
4. (4) St. Johns Country Day (10-3, Class 1A)
Quality win: Baldwin, Clay, Maclay, Middleburg, Valdosta (Ga.), Suwannee
Notable: The defending 1A state champs went 1-1 since our last Super 6, beating a quality Clay (3-2) and then losing to Houston, Tenn. (13-5). TJ Sunderhaus (.457, 3 HR, 13 RBI), Preston Cole (.395) and Brayden Harris (.395) lead the offense. Harris has been dealing on the bump, too (4-0, 0.00 ERA, 51 Ks, 24.2 IP).
5. (T6) Bolles (10-3, Class 2A)
Quality wins: Davidson Academy (Tenn.), IMG Academy Gold, Ponte Vedra, St. Johns Country Day, University Christian.
Notable: The Bulldogs went 2-1 since our last Super 6, losing to a 9-3 Parrish Community, and then beating Davidson Academy and IMG Academy Gold. 7). Denzel Del Valle Delgado (.391, Jackson Geist (.386) and Gabe Gonzalez (.386, 2 HR) lead the Bulldogs.
T6. (T6) Clay (10-4, Class 4A)
Quality wins: Baker County, Episcopal, Keystone Heights, Oakleaf, South Paulding (Ga.)
Notable: I struggled with this one this week. The Blue Devils lost to St. Johns Country Day (3-2), which is a forgivable loss. They then lost to 11-2 Tocoi Creek (5-4) and followed that up with a 4-1 win over St. Augustine. Tocoi lost to St. Augustine. Clay’s body of work is why I kept the Blue Devils in this week. Their three local losses (SJCD, Providence, Tocoi) are all one-run games.
T6. (NR) Episcopal (11-2, Class 2A)
Quality wins: Benedictine (Ga.), Fletcher, Mandarin, Sandalwood, St. Augustine
Notable: After a week out, the Eagles move back in and replace Fernandina Beach. Yes, I hated to move the Pirates out after their first loss of the season but it was to a 2-10 Hilliard. Jack Ottesen (.432) and Gehrig Severidt (.419) lead the Eagles, whose only local loss is to Clay.
