Flag football: Playoff brackets released and 15 teams are headed to the postseason

The high school flag football brackets are set and 15 local teams are headed to the state playoffs.

Clay (12-0), University Christian (9-0) and White (12-5) were the highest-seeded local teams, each earning No. 2 seeds in their regions. The Blue Devils are coming off a season where they reached the regional finals. They’ve been the No. 1-ranked team in the Super 6 all season.

Second-year program Bartram Trail made its first playoff bracket, using an upset of Ponte Vedra in the district tournament to get in as the No. 8 seed in Region 1-3A. Fletcher earned a No. 3 seed in 1-3A and will get a playoff rematch against Fleming Island in the opening round. The Senators rolled over the Golden Eagles in the playoffs last year to end Fleming Island’s unbeaten season.

First-year programs Ponte Vedra and University Christian are also in the mix. The Sharks earned a No. 4 seed in Region 1-3A and the Christians are No. 2 in 1-1A.
