Flag football: 10 local teams headed for second round of playoffs

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Ten local flag football teams are headed for the second round of the state playoffs.

Super 6 No. 1 Clay led the list of area teams who won their openers and punched their tickets to the regional semifinals. The Blue Devils handled Orlando Jones 20-6 in Region 2-2A to advance.

There are a pair of all-area clashes in the second round, headlined by White and Paxon colliding in Region 1-2A. The Golden Eagles beat Fort Walton Beach (20-7), while the Commanders blanked Godby (18-0). And unbeaten University Christian romped over Newberry (28-0) to set up a showdown with Super 6 mainstay Bradford, a 37-9 winner over Keystone Heights.
