Ribault girls win 11th State title

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A couple of weeks ago Ribault’s boys and girls basketball teams swept the Gateway Championship. When I spoke with Lady Trojans head coach Shelia Seymore- Pennick she said that her team wasn’t satisfied with that trophy. Their goal all season long has been winning a state title and anything short of that is a failure.

It’s time to hang banner No. 11 from the rafters at Ribault. The Lady Trojans claimed the class 5A Championship after beating Bishop Moore 60-37. Rennia Davis had 20 points and 11 rebounds while Day’Neshia Banks chipped in with 19 points and 12 rebounds.

Coach Pennick was very emotional after the win and spoke of how much this title means to the community. Also said that she'll coach one more year before retiring. The Ribault Lady Trojans are the only Duval County school to win a girls basketball championship this season.
