They may have started on neighborhood ballfields and high school diamonds around Jacksonville, but now they’re dancing, entertaining, and playing their way into the national spotlight — live on TV. A handful of Savannah Bananas players with roots in Jacksonville will be showcased coast to coast when the wildly popular team’s game airs on The CW Network this July.

Nearly 40 local Special Olympics Florida athletes participated in a series of skill stations alongside the rookies. In addition to honing their skills, these athletes received customized jerseys and branded gear, signed one-day contracts, and met Jaxson de Ville, along with members of THE ROAR! Will Holloman remains one of the best high school basketball players in area history, and he last played a game nearly 25 years ago. In adult life, Holloman has become an advocate for giving players a shot to earn money and still play the game they love. Next week Holloman rolls out his second women’s 2 on 2 tournament with a prize of $4,000 to the winner. It's a project that continues to be close to his heart. The event is June 21 at Holy Family Church.
