This Week in Jacksonville - Business Edition: Semiconductor technicians wanted amid growing demand

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A shortage in one industry also means opportunity in another.

We’re exploring the U.S. semiconductor industry in this episode of This Week in Jacksonville: Business Edition.

There are specific skill sets required in the chip industry, but there’s incredible demand as well. There are 160,000 new job openings projected by 2032.

The United States is taking steps to address the shortage and train a new workforce of semiconductor technicians.

How is Florida positioned to respond? Dr. Parminder Jassal is our guest, examining the resources available to develop key skills through hands-on training. There are jobs available in the industry, even if a manufacturing plant doesn’t appear nearby.
