After a damp and foggy start we are starting to see some sunshine peek through the clouds. Afternoon highs will climb into the mid 60s across SE GA and mid to upper 60s even low 70s across portions of NE FL. If you’re planning on firing up the grill for Super Bowl Sunday you can expect some sunshine with seasonal comfortable conditions. Overnight lows will drop into the seasonal upper 40s with clear skies. The next round of potentially disruptive weather starts next Friday and spills over into the weekend.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – As the Weather Authority Alert continues Saturday, the National Weather continues to watch to severe storms track east northeast across Northeast Florida. Those south of the I-10 corridor have an increased chance to see a strong to severe thunderstorm.

JACKSONVILLE, FLa. – Florida reported 16,875 new coronavirus cases on Friday, pushing the number of residents and visitors in the state diagnosed far to 1,548,067. Florida has added nearly a quarter-million cases since the first of the year, which raises the daily case increase to nearly 15,000. Duval County added nearly 1,000 additional cases Friday, St. Johns and Alachua counties each had more than 200 new cases. There were 125 new cases in Nassau County -- it’s highest one-day increase. As of Friday afternoon, there were 7,528 patients with a primary diagnosis of COVID-19 in Florida hospitals.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Like most weeks, the data on COVID-19 cases, deaths and testing reported Tuesday by the Florida Department of Health ticked up from the normal Monday lows. Columbia County had two additional deaths. Tuesday’s report showed 2,725 additional cases of COVID-19 in the state, bringing the total to 738,749 since the pandemic began. There were 111 additional cases in Duval County in the last 24 hours, with 70 more in Alachua, 32 in Clay, 30 in St. Johns and 17 in Nassau. Like the state, most counties also saw their positivity races rise, with only Duval, Baker and Bradford counties remaining under that 5% threshold.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – With 13 additional coronavirus-related deaths reported in Jacksonville on Thursday, Duval County has now seen a total of 407 COVID-19 deaths since the pandemic hit Florida in March. Statewide, the Florida Department of Health reported 133 additional deaths Thursday related to COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 14,619 in about seven months. Clay County reported three additional deaths, and Alachua, Columbia and Nassau counties each reported one. Of the 19 Northeast Florida deaths added Thursday, the youngest was a 48-year-old Clay County woman and the oldest was a 94-year-old Jacksonville man. In Duval County, 118 new COVID-19 cases were reported Thursday.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Of the 147 additional deaths from COVID-19 the Florida Department of Health reported Thursday, nine were of Jacksonville residents, there were two additional deaths each in Alachua and Clay counties and one each in Bradford, Flagler and St. Johns counties. In the 11 Northeast Florida counties News4Jax has tracked through the pandemic, 718 total deaths have been reported since COVID-19 hit the state at the beginning of March. Alachua’s positivity rate for Wednesday was 11.22%. Duval County’s positivity rate was 3.79% and has remained below 5% for a week. The Florida Department of Health said Wednesday the state’s positivity rate Wednesday was 4.46%.

Some spotty Atlantic showers could move ashore late tonight. A tropical wave pushing into the Gulf provides a slight bump in our rain chances tomorrow to 50%Wednesday expect a few more inland showers around with movement to the west. Showers clear the coastal areas by the afternoon but rain will target inland locations through the late afternoon and evening. The new Tropical Depression Seven that formed in the central Atlantic 3,000 miles from Jacksonville. The tropical wave in the Gulf has potential to also become a depression or storm Wednesday or Thursday.

The Department of Health reported 5,266 additional coronavirus cases statewide Monday, bringing the statewide total to 146,341. Duval County added 260 cases, St. Johns had 57 new cases, Alachua added 40, 27 more in Clay, 14 in Columbia and 10 additional cases in both Flagler and Putnam counties. The total number of Duval County residents diagnosed with COVID-19 has doubled since June 21 and rose faster than the state average. The daily rate of positive tests in Duval County stayed below 5% throughout the month of May but has averaged 10% or above since mid-June and was 13.3% on Sunday. For these younger groups they need to be thinking about who they are coming into contact with who may be in the more vulnerable groups,' DeSantis said.

Were off to a mild start in the upper 60s low 70s with some scattered showers moving on shore and staying east of the I-95 corridor. Our chance for scattered storms will increase later this morning into the afternoon. Ahead of the rain the National Weather Service has issued at Flash Flood Watch starting at 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. tonight. Sunday will bring another below average day in the 80s with a 50% chance for scattered showers. Rain sticks around Monday before we start to dry out on Tuesday through the rest of the week.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The National Weather Service has issued a dense fog advisory until 9 a.m. Tuesday for Baker, Clay, Duval, Nassau, Alachua, Bradford, Columbia, and Union counties. Quiet weather patterns, with consistent broad swings in temperature make for fog prone mornings. Fog dissipates when temperatures warm up. Many times, fog will be more persistent and linger over large bodies of water, like the ocean or the river. The two most important safety measures when you driving in fog are to slow down and turn on your low-beam headlights.
