Deputies answering a call about shots fired at a home on Southeast 46th Terrace off Hawthorne Road were met by gunfire, the Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post. The agency said deputies returned fire and wounded the man, who died of his injuries at the scene. It’s unclear how many rounds were fired during Friday’s shooting and how many deputies used their firearms. The deputies involved have been placed on routine administrative leave while awaiting the outcome of those investigations.

Marion County Sheriff's officials said in a Facebook post that they executed a search warrant on Monday at an abandoned property in the Florida Highlands after receiving information from the neighboring Alachua County Sheriff's Office. On Tuesday, detectives and other officials excavated the lot and found human remains. It was the second set of remains found on the property. Sheriff’s officials said separate investigations are ongoing and the cases are believed to be unrelated.

Hours before Spencer was set to speak, deputies said, an Orlando man armed with a gun and wearing a media badge was arrested. Sean Jeffrey Brijmohan, 28, was booked into the Alachua County jail on a felony charge of carrying a firearm on school property, jail records show. During the event, deputies said, David Notte, 34, was arrested on a charge of resisting law enforcement without violence. Notte, of Gainesville, was booked into the Alachua County jail about 5:40 p.m., according to jail records.
