Prosecutors in California say San Bernardino County deputies involved in a shootout that killed a teenage girl and her fugitive father will not face any criminal charges.

A 15-year-old girl who had been kidnapped by her father was following sheriff’s deputy's instructions and appeared to be surrendering when deputies fatally shot her during a gun battle on a Southern California highway.

The Southern California teenager who was killed this week alongside her father in a shootout with law enforcement along an interstate east of Los Angeles was with him a day earlier when he fatally shot her mother.
