Brown -- who played in his lone game in a Patriots uniform last Sunday, scoring a touchdown against the Miami Dolphins -- took to Twitter on Friday afternoon, thanking the Patriots for the opportunity and saying, "The marathon continues." The move to release Brown comes just a few hours after head coach Bill Belichick walked out of his news conference with reporters -- refusing to answer questions on Brown. At the end of his opening address to reporters on Friday -- before the team announced Brown's release -- Belichick did acknowledge Brown, saying: "I know there are questions about Antonio.

Belichick, at the end of his opening address to reporters on Friday, did acknowledge Brown, saying: "I know there are questions about Antonio. But I'm not going to have any comment on any of the off-the-field situations or questions on that." When asked if he expected Brown would be available on Sunday, Belichick responded by saying, "He's on our roster."

Star New England Patriots wide receiver Antonio Brown no longer has an endorsement deal with Nike, the company said Thursday, more than a week after the NFL star was accused of rape. "Antonio Brown is not a Nike athlete," a Nike spokesperson said, declining to comment on specifics. Brown, who is in his 10th NFL season, signed a multimillion-dollar contract with the Patriots this month after being released by the Oakland Raiders. In the past, Nike has stood by athletes accused of wrongdoing. Nike put former NBA star Kobe Bryant in advertisements in 2005, a year after he settled an accusation of rape.

Britney Taylor is scheduled to meet with the NFL this week, according to her attorney David Haas. Heitner said Brown and Taylor had a consensual relationship that started in 2018 and that Brown will "aggressively defend himself." Taylor says in the suit that Brown sexually assaulted her twice in June 2017 before raping her in May 2018. In February and March 2018, Brown sent her messages expressing contrition and trying to re-establish a training relationship, the lawsuit says.

The NFL has prioritized helmet safety amid growing concerns over the long-term impacts of concussions. A total of $3 million has been made available in the "NFL Helmet Challenge," including $2 million in grant funding to support the development of a helmet prototype and a further $1 million prize for the winner. "The NFL Helmet Challenge represents an unprecedented combination of financing, research, data and engineering expertise in an effort to create a more protective helmet. The challenge kicks off with a symposium held on Nov. 13-15 in Youngstown, Ohio, for NFL officials and entrants, where they will be provided with information on current helmet technology and NFL concussion research data.

The NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported the league is considering putting Brown on its commissioner's exempt list. A player placed on the exempt list cannot practice or attend games while the league conducts a review. The league placed Hunt on the list in November -- effectively ending his 2018 season -- on the day video surfaced of him shoving and kicking a woman. Other players, such as Adrian Peterson in 2014, were placed on the exempt list after the league learned they were facing criminal charges. But if Brown is put on the exempt list, it might be a first.

Brown and Taylor had a consensual personal relationship that began in 2018 and the sexual acts were consensual, the statement said. The Miami-Dade County Police Department told CNN that its special victims bureau has no reports of sexual assault allegations involving Taylor or Brown. "I have found strength in my faith, my family and from the accounts of other survivors of sexual assault. OSCEOLA, Florida (CNN) - Oakland Raiders wide receiver Antonio Brown's tumultuous offseason continues, but this time, he'll have to defend himself in court over a bill for $38,521.20. Brown is being sued by Stefano Tedeschi, aka the "Sports Chef," in Osceola County, Florida, court on charges of breach of contract and unjust enrichment. The lawsuit alleges that Brown wrongfully terminated the contract on January 27, 2018, and would not allow Tedeschi to retrieve his equipment and leftover food from the property. Brown, Tedeschi and his attorney did not respond to a request for comment. Brown recently lost a grievance against the NFL Players Association over the expiration of an old model of helmet, and he is recovering from frostbite on his feet.
