BuzzFeed is buying HuffPost from Verizon as part of a bigger deal that has the wireless giant investing in the digital-media company. Verizon will be a minority shareholder in BuzzFeed and the two companies will partner on content and ads. That Verizon Media business, which also includes tech blogs TechCrunch and Engadget as well as Yahoo, has struggled. Peretti said he wants “BuzzFeed News to be more BuzzFeedy and HuffPost to be more HuffPosty.”As part of the deal, Verizon will keep putting HuffPost stories on its Yahoo sites. Guru Gowrappan, the head of Verizon's media business, said the company is “fully committed to the growth of the media business” and has “no plans to sell” any other properties.

NEW YORK – A “behavior change" company founded by Arianna Huffington is teaming with Hachette Book Group on a series of wellness guides. The first release, “Your Time to Thrive,” comes out in March. “With ‘Your Time to Thrive,’ we’ve brought together the latest science, storytelling and ancient wisdom to create a behavior change system that’s both timeless and tailored to our moment," Huffington said in a statement Tuesday. “Creating meaningful, sustainable behavior change isn’t just about helping people move from A to B in a mechanical way. It’s about tapping into what’s best in us — the wisdom, creativity and strength we all have.”The books are being written by a team at Thrive Global, started in 2016 by Huffington with the mission to “end the stress and burnout epidemic and help individuals and companies unlock their greatest potential.” The series will be published through Hachette Go, a new imprint specializing in books which help people “change their lives for the better.”

In the regulatory filing, Huffington cites the growth of her media company, Thrive Global, as reason for her departure. Additionally, another board member Matt Cohler, a general partner at venture capital firm Benchmark, has also resigned from the board. According to a separate regulatory filing, Cohler resigned Tuesday, one day prior to Huffington.
