Police said they responded around 9:20 p.m. to a call about a person, who had been shot, walking along Arlington Expressway. The Sheriff’s Office said the man was found at a nearby gas station with non-life-threatening injuries to his leg. He was taken to a hospital. The man told police he was robbed at gunpoint and then shot, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A motorcyclist died Wednesday night in a crash on Atlantic Boulevard at the intersection of University Boulevard, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. According to Lt. Flatt, with the Sheriff’s Office, the motorcyclist was a woman who was believed to be in her 20s. Two other vehicles involved in the crash remained at the scene, Flatt said. JSO did not provide details on how the crash happened, but the crash report has been requested. The crash closed all lanes of Atlantic, westbound and eastbound.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man who was shot in the arm outside of an Arlington hotel Thursday night is expected to recover, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. JSO said the shooting happened around 8 p.m. in the outside courtyard of the Regency Inn on Arlington Expressway. JFRD responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries, JSO said. Witnesses were found and are cooperating with the investigation, as is hotel management, JSO said. Investigators said it was unclear if the shooting was a targeted attack but added there is no outstanding threat to the public.

A 37-year-old Duval County school teacher is accused by the Florida Highway Patrol of driving under the influence in a March wrong-way crash on Arlington Expressway that killed a woman. A warrant for his arrest was issued Oct. 20 and Jean-Louis surrendered at the Clay County jail on Nov. 6. Jean-Louis has worked as an adaptive physical education teacher with Duval County schools since August 2017. Earlier this week, Duval County Public Schools said Jean-Louis had been removed from the classroom for an unspecified arrest so he could not have any contact with students. According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office jail database, Jean-Pierre had previous arrests for DUI involving crashes in 2013 and 2017.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 56-year-old man is in critical condition after he was hit by a car on the Arlington Expressway near Seabrook Cove Road. The crash happened just after 2 a.m. Friday. Crash investigators with Florida Highway Patrol said as a vehicle was traveling westbound and moving into the left lane, the man walked out in front of the car and was hit. One was behind businesses at a strip mall, a father and son on a youth football field and one just off Arlington Expressway. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Police said a citizen who saw a post about a 63-year-old man who was last seen in mid-September notified the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, and the man was found safe. On Sept. 17, the Sheriff’s Office said, police responded to the area of Arlington Expressway and Seabrook Parkway in reference to a report of a missing person. Police said they learned Roberto Monzon was last seen Sept. 15. Police on Sunday asked for help locating Monzon. “We are happy to announce that, thanks to an observant citizen, Mr. Monzon has been located safe,” PIO Cheyenne Meyer said.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Between 4:40 and 9:45 p.m. Wednesday, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office was called to four separate shootings in four different parts of town. About four hours later a 33-year-old man was found shot to death in a ditch on Higginbotham Street in Baldwin. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. Two men were shot Monday afternoon just south of Arlington Expressway, according to the Jacksonville Sheriffs Office. Officers were called about 4:30 p.m. to the shooting on Arlington River Drive. Police said they found two men with gunshot wounds to the chest area, and the men were taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. At last check, according to police, both men were in surgery and they are expected to survive. According to police, no apartments or homes were hit by gunfire, but a JEA water supply main was struck.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. Police said a man was hit by gunfire Wednesday morning while driving on Los Santos Way, near University Boulevard North two of blocks north of the Arlington Expressway. According to the Jacksonville Sheriffs Office, police and Jacksonville Fire Rescue were called about a shooting near the Los Palmos Apartments at 9:25 a.m. Officers said a 30-year-old man and a woman passenger were driving when someone shot at the car. The man was hospitalized in critical but stable condition. Police said the gunman may have left in a white, full-size Ford pickup truck with a tool box. “As I looked around, I realized gas stations didn’t close down during the COVID-19, so I thought it was a wise investment,” said Walker. The gas station is located on the busy corner off of Arlington Expressway where there is lots of talk about the new owner. Walker said BP called her with news that she had made history buy investing in the gas station. Since the grand opening, Walker said she has the first Black-owned BP gas station in the state. Walker hopes other minorities will become interested in buying a gas station.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. The Jacksonville Sheriffs Office says one of their officers was involved in a crash with another vehicle just after midnight on Sunday. Both drivers were taken to a local hospital. According to JSO, the officer involved was traveling eastbound on the Arlington Expressway when a vehicle coming off of the Southside Connector collided with the officer at the intersection. Jacksonville Fire Rescue transported both the officer and the other driver to a local hospital. JSO Traffic Homicide is investigating the incident.

The malfunction knocked out power for more at least 1,064 people during the worst of the outage early Monday morning. Crews said they couldn’t determine what happened to cause the equipment to go down but noted there was a downed wire near Seabrook Parkway. Power should be restored within a few hours, Kyle told News4Jax. A crew has been on scene since 7 this morning.

About 8:20 a.m., according to the Sheriff’s Office said, an off-duty officer was traveling west on the Mathews Bridge when he saw a sport utility vehicle traveling east in the westbound lanes. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - All eastbound lanes on Arlington Expressway were shut down early Sunday morning after two officer-involved crashes near the Southside Connector. According to Jacksonville Sheriff's Officers, a car had a tire blow out on the eastbound lanes of the expressway earlier in the morning about 4 a.m. and an officer responded. While waiting with the disabled vehicle for a tow truck, another vehicle crashed into the police cruiser. Later, another JSO officer was responding to the first crash on the westbound lanes when that cruiser got into a crash with another car. Officers conducted DUI tests, but said everyone involved in both crashes OK at this time.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A pedestrian was struck and killed by an SUV Thursday evening in Arlington, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office. Investigators were called to the scene on Arlington Road just north of the Arlington Expressway at about 8:30 p.m. The Sheriff's Office said the pedestrian, who appeared to be crossing the street, died at the scene. An officer was unable to confirm the age or the identity of the victim. There were several witnesses at the scene that were speaking to investigators.

The Mathews Bridge reopened Tuesday afternoon just before 3 p.m. after it had been closed down in both directions while police investigated a suspicious item. The package was found to be "nothing of concern," Jacksonville police said. Traffic into and out of Downtown was briefly rerouted over the Hart Bridge.
