The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a suspicious incident that occurred in the 8400 block of Atlantic Boulevard on Sunday. Ron DeSantis on Tuesday announced that 18 Walmart stores in Jacksonville will begin administering doses of the COVID-19 vaccine starting Friday. DeSantis, who was joined by Jacksonville Mayor Lenny Curry at the Walmart Supercenter on Atlantic Boulevard, said there will be 119 Walmart stores across 34 Florida counties that will offer the COVID-19 vaccine for senior citizens. Walmart stores in Baker County, Bradford County, Clay County and Columbia County will also offer the vaccine, according to the governor. DeSantis said expanding vaccination efforts to Walmart stores across the state will help address some of the inequality issues raised by critics. There’ll be six Publix in Clay County, and they’ll also be one in Columbia County,” DeSantis said.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A motorcyclist died Wednesday night in a crash on Atlantic Boulevard at the intersection of University Boulevard, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. According to Lt. Flatt, with the Sheriff’s Office, the motorcyclist was a woman who was believed to be in her 20s. Two other vehicles involved in the crash remained at the scene, Flatt said. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A bicyclist was fatally struck by a car on Atlantic Boulevard on Monday, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said. The accident was reported by the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department around 7 p.m. According to police, a woman was riding a bicycle across the westbound lanes of Atlantic Boulevard, just west of Interstate 295, when she was hit by a car traveling west. Police said the bicyclist was critically injured when they arrived at the scene. The Sheriff’s Office said two occupants of the car stopped and are cooperating with police.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Atlantic Boulevard service road on the Intracoastal Bridge is closing soon for roadwork and could be closed for up to a year, the Florida Department of Transportation said. FDOT said the service road for drivers headed westbound on Atlantic Boulevard will close Monday. The closure is expected to be in place throughout a bridge improvement project to install a cathodic protection system on the structure. The project is expected to be completed in fall 2021, weather and unforeseen circumstances permitting. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man is recovering after he was shot early Wednesday morning on Jasper Avenue near the intersection of Arlington Place Road. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Antibody tests are no longer being offered at state sponsored testing sites, including the site in Regency Square, according to the City of Jacksonville. Antibody tests are still available at the Fortuna Senior Center site on McCormick Road from Monday through Wednesday, and at the site on Atlantic Boulevard from Thursday through Saturday, the cited noted in a Friday tweet. The crash, which happened just after 11:30 a.m., blocked all lanes of Atlantic Boulevard at the intersection for several hours. According to police, a man was driving north on Spring Forest Avenue when he tried to turn east onto Atlantic Boulevard, failed to clear the intersection and was T-boned by another vehicle. One of the additional coronavirus testing sites coming to Jacksonville this week will open Thursday on Atlantic Boulevard in Neptune Beach -- the first public, free testing site at the beaches. And the citys longest-running and largest testing site -- Lot J of TIAA Bank Field -- will close at the end of Wednesday and reopen Thursday at Regency Square Mall. With the added capacity from city-operated testing, as many as 5,000 people can be tested for COVID-19 in Jacksonville every day. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. A car involved in a shooting Monday afternoon in the Arlington area crashed in front of a business on Atlantic Boulevard. A Dodge Charger appeared to have clipped a canopy and a parked car in front of the Rent-A-Wheel on Atlantic Boulevard, west of Southside Boulevard. Police cars had the road blocked off in front of the business, which was surrounded by crime scene tape. News4Jax learned someone in the Charger was injured in an apparent shooting. It happened Monday while traffic was heavy in both directions of Atlantic Boulevard near the intersection of Monument Road. In the cellphone video, her young daughter can be heard singing inside the car while an argument between two men turned physical outside the vehicle. It's unclear what prompted the men to get out of their vehicles on Atlantic Boulevard and start arguing, but the video appears to show one man punching the other man. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A construction worker installing traffic signals Friday morning on North Kernan Boulevard in East Arlington was critically injured when a boom truck he was in hit a high power transmission line, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office. The man operating the crane was doing electrical work for a subcontractor working on a Jacksonville Transportation Authority, tried to get off the truck but was shocked. Residents in the area heard what sounded like an explosion, smelled something burning and came outside to see what was happening. Sky4 aerials just before noon showed rescue personnel, Jacksonville police and a JEA crew were at the intersection of Kernan and Running River Road, which is north of Atlantic Boulevard. A previous News4Jax report on the JTA Mobility Works project said a 3-mile stretch of Kernan Boulevard between Atlantic Boulevard and McCormick Road was being widened, with new traffic lights, sidewalks and a bicycle path added.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Jacksonville police arrested two employees of Academy Sports on Atlantic Boulevard who are accused of stealing thousands of dollars' worth of merchandise from the sporting goods store. According to the arrest report, the two women stole $7,890 worth of merchandise. In addition, according to the arrest report, Seang and Baloch admitted to stealing $5,000 worth of clothing. The loss prevention officer told police that the lost revenue including what the two women self-reported came to $12,890. A store employee, who wished to remain anonymous, told News4Jax that he was shocked because both women appeared to be hard workers.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A masked man broke into a pharmacy in St. Nicholas and stole drugs, according to a Jacksonville Sheriff's Office report. It happened early Monday morning at Panama Pharmacy on Atlantic Boulevard. The police report shows a man wearing yellow gloves, a tan face mask and a dark jacket broke into the pharmacy by using what appeared to be an ax. But, I mean, to sledgehammer open a wall, thats crazy," said pharmacy owner Kevin Duane, who alerted police to the burglary. "He crawled his way down, and he had an ax and a sledgehammer, and he axed the wall and broke down the wall and entered the pharmacy from the wall," Duane said.
