A man who pled guilty to killing his girlfriend and holding a Clay County couple hostage in 2022 was sentenced to 40 years in prison on Thursday.

A man accused of manslaughter for killing his girlfriend and kidnapping for holding a Clay County couple hostage in 2022, pled guilty to all of the charges against him.

According to court documents obtained by News4JAX, Aubrey Lumpkin admitted to killing his girlfriend two years before taking a couple hostage and showed detectives where he’d buried her body -- in the woods behind the same property where they had just rescued the two hostages.
