He was delivered Tuesday in critical condition after his mother, 35-year-old Stacey Jones, was shot twice in the back while standing outside her home on the city’s South Side. PANAMA CITY, Fla. A newborn baby died after being left inside a hot car in Floridas Panhandle, sheriffs officials said. The Bay County Sheriff's Office offered few details about the case on Thursday. Rescue crews were called to a home in Panama City late Wednesday after the baby was found inside the car. Sheriff's officials said the baby had possibly been left inside the vehicle for several hours. KidsandCars.org, which is a nonprofit child safety organization, said it's the second hot car death in Florida this year.

Andrew Caballeiro was a week old when his father, Ernesto Caballeiro, 49, kidnapped him last month, Miami-Dade police said. A short time later, police found the bodies of Arlety García Valdés, 40; Isabel Valdés González, 60; and Lina González Licor, 84. “Our detectives are still following all the leads they have in the case," Miami-Dade police Detective Ángel Rodríguez said.

Restaurants would get a tax credit for setting up baby-changing tables, under a measure proposed Wednesday by Sen. Lauren Book, a Plantation Democrat who gave birth to twins in February. The proposal (SB 236) would offer a tax credit equal to the cost of a changing table --- not including the cost of installation --- or $300, whichever is less. Credits would be available for up to two tables per restaurant.
