The first weekend of the summer kicked off, and hundreds of people visited the beaches as the beach renourishment project continues in Jacksonville Beach.

Beachfront parking and beach access at Mickler’s Landing have reopened following the Ponte Vedra Beach Restoration Project that began in March.

The St. Johns County Commission awarded the North Ponte Vedra Beach renourishment project to a company and work is expected to begin on March 1.

Flagler County will be asking residents and business owners to take a survey about a possible beach nourishment project.

The Army Corps of Engineers began renourishment in Vilano Beach last year and plans to continue until March.

The United States Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville awarded a $32.4 million contract to support a renourishment project across nearly 10 miles of Duval County beaches.
