Two Bishop John J. Snyder High School baseball players were arrested Monday in connection with threats made toward their African American teammate, according to reports from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Impact Christian, Jackson, Lee and West Nassau are the area’s lone survivors in the boys basketball state playoffs. One more victory, and each will punch their ticket to the state semifinals. The Tigers had lost the district title game to Snyder by six points but rolled in the rematch. Visiting Lee ended Ponte Vedra’s season in the Region 1-5A semifinals, knocking off the Sharks 53-44. West Nassau hung on until the finish and edged visiting Paxon 53-51 in the Region 1-4A semifinals.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The boys basketball season continued for nine area teams on Thursday night. Among some of the notables from the opening round:Fletcher won its first playoff game since 1996 with a 60-52 win over Daytona Beach Mainland in the Region 1-6A playoff. The Senators’ last win came in the second round of the 1996 postseason. Bishop Snyder edged Tallahassee Maclay 63-58 in Region 1-3A, the first playoff win — and 20-win season — in Cardinals history. West Nassau’s first playoff win in eight years, a 57-44 victory over Bishop Kenny, kept the odometer rolling on guard Deebo Coleman’s record-setting career.

In addition to West Nassau’s win in the Class 1A non-tumbling medium division, Providence (small division), Bishop Snyder (small non-tumbling), Baldwin (large non-tumbling) and St. Augustine (small coed) brought home championships on Friday. Outside of West Nassau, Baldwin’s title was its fourth, Bartram’s was its fifth and Bishop Snyder was its fifth.
