The first-ever GA-FL Border Classic features local high school football teams from both sides of the Georgia-Florida line.

Oakleaf marched up and down the field with its powerful offensive line and ground game taking control and knocked off Orange Park 42-21 in a rainy finale of the WW Gay Mechanical Contractors Bold City Showcase at Bolles on Saturday night.

It wasn’t easy. It wasn’t pretty. But it was a promising start for the Creekside football team in the WW Gay Mechanical Contractors Bold City Showcase.

A non-profit program called High School 9:12 is giving athletes resources to help them thrive on the field and in the classroom. The three pillars are sports, athletics, and life.

The Bulldogs were dominant from open to close in the WW Gay Bold City Showcase on a soggy Friday night, routing former district opponent West Nassau 42-0 to open the season with a fury.

A longtime Jacksonville doctor and former team doctor for The Bolles School for more than 35 years will be honored for his commitment and service to athletes from high school level to the pros.

The Bold City Showcase to kick off the high school football season is being postponed as the coronavirus pandemic continues to push the start of fall sports back.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Bold City Showcase is back again for a full day of televised high school football on WJXT Channel 4 this fall. Airstream Ventures unveiled the third installment of the high school football event on Tuesday afternoon, bringing three games back to the Bolles School’s Skinner-Barco Stadium on Aug. 22. Last year’s Bold City Showcase featured three Saturday games (Bartram Trail-Lee, Atlantic Coast-Mandarin and Bolles-University Christian). Hopefully in Year 2, we adapt and get better and handle the chaos of the Bold City Showcase,” he said. As soon as the ball kicks off, it’s a football game.

The Florida High School Athletic Association released its Week 10 playoff RPI ratings on Tuesday afternoon with only minor changes. Trinity closes its season at Raines on Friday and will lock up a playoff spot with a victory. 5 seed in the playoff bracket since Lee (.607) will win the district with a victory over one-win Gainesville. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – From late morning through late night, thousands of people were packed into The Bolles School campus in San Jose to watch some of the best high school football on the First Coast. It was the inaugural Bold City Showcase. News4Jax meteorologist estimated the high temperature at Bolles was 91 degrees -- in the shade. "We're all, like, sweating and, like, it's really hard, but a lot of water has helped with the heat," Bartram Trail cheerleader Lily McMullan said. Despite the heat, Bartram Trail left tackle Jacob Otts said he's happy with how well the inaugural event went.

That defense of the past, scorched time and again over the years, took a big step in turning the page. The Bears smothered everything Lee could muster and crushed the Generals 48-20 in the opening game of the Publix Bold City Showcase on Saturday. You can even see heat radiating off some surfaces -- like the benches where the high school football teams in Saturday's Publix Bold City Showcase will be sitting. The six-team, three-game showcase begins at 1 p.m. Saturday, which means some of the teams will be playing in the hottest part of the day. WATCH: How to beat the heat while playing sports“So just preparing for the worst really and hoping for the best,” Verlander said. “The kids are ready to go practice or play against somebody else and the fans and everybody are ready for football season to start and it’s here,” said Matt Morris, athletic director at Bolles. There will also be several trainers and EMTs on sight to handle any emergencies.
