Family, friends, students and a community are mourning the loss of 16-year-old Riley Teixeira after the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office announced his body was found Monday during a search in Julington Creek.

The body of a missing 16-year-old boy was located Monday after the teen disappeared Sunday when a canoe overturned, authorities said.

An extensive search is underway for a 16-year-old who was reported missing Sunday night after a canoe flipped in the St. Johns River, according to the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office.
