The State Attorneyโs Office announced it has dropped the case against a 37-year-old nurseโs aide accused of stealing $27,000 from a 78-year-old Jacksonville Beach woman who she was taking care of. The 37-year-old woman was facing one county of elderly exploitation and one count of credit card fraud. Prosecutors told News4Jax the case was dropped because of the death of the 78-year-old woman. Defense attorney Randy Reep, whoโs not affiliated with the case, said itโs a technicality many people may not be aware of. According to investigators, the 37-year-old was the 78-year-oldโs caretaker who โdrainedโ $27,000 from the elderly womanโs bank account.
Weeks-long investigation leads to drug arrest at Baker County home
BAKER COUNTY, Fla. Investigators with the Baker County Sheriffs Office have made an arrest after a weeks-long investigation into illegal drug sales, including fentanyl. The Sheriffs Office said Dalarrian Jackson, 23, was arrested Wednesday at a home on Pine Top Road. Investigators suspect he was selling drugs out of the home. Detectives said Jackson is suspected of selling drugs to high school students. In the past few weeks, the Sheriffs Office said, there was a steady flow of cars through the neighborhood as customers came to and from Jacksons house.
Despite conviction, authorities reopen 1985 Woodbine murder case

In 2003, the case was closed after Dennis Perry was convicted of the murders. But the GBI will re-examine the investigation and evidence in the case to determine the significance of the possible new evidence, the Bureau said in a news release. The GBI and the Camden County Sheriffโs Office reopened the case Wednesday. Anyone with information pertinent to this investigation is asked to call authorities at 1-800-597-TIPS (8477).
Man who cut off ankle monitor, fled, then committed child sex crime sentenced
BRADFORD COUNTY, Fla. โ A Bradford County man who fled the state after being charged with a child sex crime has been sentenced to 15 years in prison. Michael Case, 37, was arrested and charged with sexual battery on a child over 12 and less than 18 years old, according to Bradford County Sheriff's Office Maj. Brad Smith. Case was scheduled to go before a judge in May for a plea agreement, but didn't show up and cut his ankle monitor off, according to Smith. According to the Bradford County Sheriff's Office, Case said he had been staying in a tent at a wooded campsite several miles away from where he was found walking. Davis sentenced Case to 15 years in Florida State Prison, and ordered he have no contact with the victim.
