As tax filing season gets underway, parents are working to figure out what to do about the child tax credit, including those monthly advanced payments.

Starting this week, the first of six child tax credits will hit parents’ bank accounts.

About 36 million families will receive a letter in the mail, letting them know that the expanded child tax credit will begin to hit bank accounts starting July 15.
