ORANGE PARK, Fla – A 24-year-old man has been charged in the fatal shooting of a woman in Orange Park on Christmas Day, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office announced Saturday. Kiaun Shannard Miller is charged with second-degree murder and his being held without bond in the Clay County jail. Deputies said Shantdella Garcon was found with multiple gunshot wounds at the Park at Matera apartment complex off Spencer Road in Orange Park. Neighbors said investigators were at the complex for hours on Christmas Day, gathering information. Many people who News4Jax spoke with say there were fewer people at the movies this Christmas compared to years past. Despite the changes, moviegoers say they still enjoyed going to the movies on Christmas Day.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Some South Florida counties have put into place a short-term curfew over the holidays in an effort to discourage the spread of the new coronavirus. “Christmas and New Year’s holidays are known for large gatherings," Broward Mayor Steve Geller told mayors during a conference call Tuesday. “We are expecting a spike in cases here.”The temporary curfew, from Christmas to Jan. 4, is meant to stop people from moving around and gathering for parties. Midnight mass and travel to and from work are exempt, according to the South Florida Sun Sentinel. Ron DeSantis' order removing restrictions on bars and restaurants, and they are “speculative and arbitrary,” wrote U.S. District Judge Raag Singhal.

I can only imagine what the children’s’ faces are going to be like when they see their presents on Christmas Day,” Area Commander Keath Biggers said.
