Four Duval County School Board races were on the ballot for Tuesday’s primary election.

Four of seven seats on the Duval County School Board are up for election this year. These are nonpartisan races that will appear on the August primary ballot. In District 3, school board member Cindy Pearson is seeking re-election, facing Rebecca Nathanson. This race will appear on the ballots of all voters in the district, regardless of party affiliation.

The Duval County School Board will look much different after the Aug. 20 election, but there’s potential that one seat stays the same.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – While spring break is a fun time for students, it’s a difficult time for the children who depend on in-school meals. To fill the void, Duval County Public Schools teamed with Feeding Northeast Florida on Saturday to give children the food they need while they’re on break. On a rainy, overcast day, volunteers brought joy to children in need. Whenever school is out around the country, children who depend on in-school meals may not have any food at home. With the help of Councilmen Matt Carlucci and Kevin Carrico, they brought in Feeding Northeast Florida and Crossroads Church together to feed students that need food.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Duval County School Board swore in two new members and elected a new chair and vice-chair on Tuesday. Board member Elizabeth Andersen was elected as the new chairwoman and Board member Darryl Willie was elected vice-chair. Former chair Warren A. Jones (District 5) along with Lori Hershey (District 7) were also sworn in after winning reelection. “I am grateful to former Board Chair Warren Jones and the many leaders that have come before me for laying a foundation for success,” said Andersen. “I am honored to serve the community as chair of the Duval County School Board.”Charlotte Joyce (District 6), who was elected in 2018, is the seventh board member.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. In the race for the Duval County School Board, four of the seven seats on the board were up for election in 2020. Duval County Clerk of CourtsIt was an open seat for 2020 in the Republican primary race for Duval County Clerk of Court. Jody Phillips, whos the chief operating officer for the the Clerk of Courts, won with 58% of the vote. Next was City Council member Scott Wilson, who got 31% of the vote, followed by Leon Jackson, who has been manager of the Clerk of Courts since 2005. Hamm received 43% of the vote, Carrico received 34% and Redman received 23%.
