Clay Electric told News4Jax the main problem stems from a 30-mile high voltage line that serves thousands of homes and businesses throughout the county. Clay Electric spokeswoman Kathy Richardson said fixing this utility line will take awhile. When News4Jax asked if that mean there would be more outages, Richardson could not guarantee there wouldn’t be more coming.

The plane went down about 1 miles off the highway near Shadowlawn Elementary School. Clay County Fire Rescue said the plane hit a transmission line and caught fire. "(The crews) went ahead and notified the Clay County Sheriff's Office of what they found and we were subsequently notified after that." Bryan said the single-engine plane took off from Haller Airpark, south of Green Cove Springs, at 5:15 p.m.

"I just thought it was our neighborhood and then I got informed it was more than one, 6,000 customers. Clay Electric Cooperate, Inc. was able to get all the power restored later Saturday morning. A spokesman for Clay Electric said depending on how the criminal investigation unfolds, the people who caused the outage could face multiple charges.
