The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office confirms units are investigating a collision along Hendricks Avenue at the I-95 overpass.

One person is dead after a crash at an intersection in the Lakeshore neighborhood on the city’s Westside.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A cyclist was killed Tuesday in a collision with a car on Jacksonville’s Westside, authorities said. The collision happened about 12:19 p.m. Tuesday on Chaffee Road near where it meets Gurtler Road, according to a crash report released by the Florida Highway Patrol. Troopers said a sedan was heading north on Chaffee Road when a 51-year-old cyclist on the shoulder traveled into the car’s path and the two collided. The unnamed cyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, died of his injuries, according to the crash report. The sedan’s driver, a 47-year-old woman, was not hurt.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. Northbound Interstate-95 near the Pecan Park Road exit was backed up for hours Saturday evening after a multi-vehicle crash blocked all lanes just after 6 p.m.From the view of Department of Transportation cameras, lanes reopened to traffic at around 6:45 p.m., and traffic was inching slowly through the area by 8 p.m.Florida 511 tweeted updated information about the crash saying the right lanes was still blocked as of 7:20 p.m.
