After the collision, troopers said, the sedan overturned and the driver of the SUV drove to a stop in the outside emergency lane. According to the Highway Patrol, the driver of the SUV, a 29-year-old Jacksonville man, and the driver of the sedan, a 39-year-old woman, suffered minor injuries. The Highway Patrol said the passenger in the sedan, a 3-year-old Jacksonville girl, was not hurt. The news release did not specify which vehicle was the patrol car.

The tanker was carrying 6,000 gallons of gasoline and 2,500 gallons of diesel when flames sparked. All westbound lanes of I-10 at Hammond Boulevard were closed while crews transfered the fuel. Otherwise, traffic is being redirected onto the 295 exit. If you follow the latter route, you’ll need to use 295 northbound to exit to Commonwealth Avenue, go left on Commonwealth, and then use Picketville Road south to get to US 90.

The Sheriff’s Office said several homes and businesses in the area were without power and JEA was contacted. The JSO Traffic Homicide Unit is investigating, and anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 904-630-0500.

A woman told Jacksonville police that Follow showed up at her house Monday with a rifle and asked her to drive him somewhere. When she returned home Tuesday, she found a pile of her uniforms burning in front of the house, and Follow was inside the house, the report said. As he left the home, the officer could be heard over the loudspeaker saying, "you're doing the right thing." The standoff forced some nearby homes to be evacuated overnight and closed part of Commonwealth Avenue during rush hour.
