ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – Four people were seriously injured in a chain reaction crash involving five vehicles on the southbound side of Interstate 95 near International Golf ParkwayThe crash occurred Monday night just after 8:10 p.m.Florida Highway Patrol said the crash occurred when a tractor-trailer traveling in the inside lane of I-95 attempted to make a U-turn.
Four vehicles were in the center lane at the time, traveling behind each other.
The first oncoming vehicle hit the right, rear tire of the tractor-trailer and a chain reaction crash ensued.
The first oncoming vehicle, driven by a 26-year-old with a 75-year-old passenger, was deflected on impact with the tractor-trailer and was rear-ended by a van following directly behind.
A fourth and final vehicle, driven by a 27-year-od, was following behind and hit the SUV, spinning the SUV clockwise so that it was facing north.
