A 57-year-old was rescued from a van submerged in a retention pond Thursday after he crashed in Middleburg.

A 14-year-old boy was struck by a pickup truck and seriously injured Thursday morning in the area of a Middleburg school bus stop, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

MAXVILLE, Fla. – One person died Tuesday morning in a four-vehicle crash on U.S. 301 just before County Road 218, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Troopers said a pickup truck towing an SUV on a flatbed trailer was going north on U.S. 301 about 10:20 a.m. when it struck a Kia Cadenza. Those two vehicles continued north and hit a Ford Expedition, which struck a Hyundai Sonata. At some point, a fire began and the driver of the Kia died at the scene.

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. – A Keystone Heights driver died in an early morning wreck on U.S. 301 south of County Road 218 when his pickup truck crossed into oncoming traffic and struck another pickup head-on, according to Florida Highway Patrol. Crash investigators said the 29-year-old man was driving north at 5:45 a.m. between Lawtey and Baldwin when he lost control, cross the median and struck the southbound vehicle. #BREAKING: @FHPJacksonville is reporting at least one fatality in a multiple vehicle crash on US 301 south of CR 218. The southbound lanes remained closed past noon. Crash investigators have not yet determined what caused the crash, but roads in the area were slick from rain overnight.

MIDDLEBURG, Fla. A worker was hospitalized Tuesday after a crane working on a bridge project on County Road 218 fell on him. A Clay County Fire Rescue spokesman said the mans leg got trapped under the crane. The victim was a subcontractor of Sacyr Construction, which is working on the bridge over the South Fork of Black Creek. The crane was removed from the road and traffic on CR-218 is flowing again. Work on the bridge project has stopped and the Occupational Health and Safety Administration is investigating the accident.

MIDDLEBURG, Fla. Clay County Fire Rescue said three people were hospitalized Thursday afternoon after a lightning strike at a Middleburg apartment complex. The complex is on Iris Street off County Road 218, west of Blanding Boulevard. Firefighters said two of the people who were injured by the lightning just before 3 p.m. went into cardiac arrest. MIDDLEBURG, Fla. - A woman was struck by two vehicles and killed Friday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The crash happened after 5 a.m. on County Road 218 near Country Estates Road, according to FHP. Troopers said the woman then fell into the eastbound lane, where she was hit by a Honda Insight. 218 was shut down for hours between Mallard Road and Carter Spencer Road and FHP asked drivers to find an alternate route. The road reopened at 10 a.m.Due to the crash, all transportation for Wilkinson Elementary School was canceled.

MIDDLEBURG, Fla. - A bicyclist was struck and killed by a vehicle early Wednesday afternoon in Middleburg, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Troopers identified the bicyclist as Sivalingam Kumaravailu, 69, of Middleburg. Troopers said the driver of the SUV -- an 80-year-old Middleburg woman -- then made a right turn onto C.R. The Highway Patrol report noted the bicyclist was not wearing a helmet. At this point, charges are pending, according to the Highway Patrol.
