At least four "older guests" have died on the Holland America cruise ship Zaandam, where two individuals have tested positive for the coronavirus, the cruise line said in a Friday news release. As of Friday, 138 people -- 53 guests and 85 crew members -- had reported flu-like symptoms, Holland America said in its statement. On Thursday, a "number of patients with respiratory symptoms" tested for coronavirus, it said, and two people were positive. All guests and crew members received face masks Thursday. The ship exchanged medical supplies with a sister ship, Rotterdam, Thursday evening prior, according to the news release.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla – A Kansas man has pleaded guilty to murdering his longtime girlfriend during a cruise from Florida to the Bahamas last year, the Justice Department announced Friday. Eric Duane Newman, 55, of Topeka, Kansas, pleaded guilty before Chief U.S. District Judge Julie A. Robinson of the District of Kansas to one count of second-degree murder for killing Tamara Tucker. Newman and Tucker were staying together in a cabin room on the 13th deck of the cruise ship. The FBI’s Jacksonville Field Office conducted the investigation with the assistance of the FBI’s Topeka Field Office. The Criminal Division’s Office of International Affairs and the Commonwealth of the Bahamas Office of the Attorney General also provided assistance.
